Lamar Haines Memorial Wildlife Area

On October 26, 2004, the second-graders from Marshall Magnet School went on a field trip to the Lamar Haines Memorial Wildlife Area off Snowbowl Road. The students in Mrs. Linda Evans’ class made a mural and wrote about their Flagstaff “Place of the Heart.”

Erik: During October, our class went up the mountain. I liked the mother nature. I learned about the trees. I liked the mountain trip.

Justine: During October our class went up the mountain. I liked the Indian writing. I learned about the pine cones.

Halle: Our class hiked up to the Lamar Haines area during October. We played three games. We saw three cabins. We ate lunch there, too.

Savannah: Our class walked to the Lamar Haines area during October. Our class got a tour of the mountain. It was very fun and my best friend Amy rode in the same car together. 

Amy: Our class hiked up to the Lamar Haines area during October.  Our class got a tour of the mountain and our class did a scavenger hunt and a story.

Gabriel: Our class hiked up the Lamar Haines area during October. We played the watering hole game. We used walking sticks.

Charles: Our class went hiking up a mountain. Our class saw some snow and our class played a game the water hole and our class saw aspen trees. Our class loved the hike.

Hayden: Our class went hiking on the Peaks. I liked the hiking trip best. I liked the caves and the cabin. I learned when you rub the trees the dust comes off.  It was fun. I like it.

Jorge: Our class went hiking on the Peaks. I liked the hiking trip best. I liked the cabins. My favorite part was when we heard the birds.

Amber: My field trip was great. I learned about the trees on a mountain. The pine cones looked like they had mice. I like to be outside.

Amee: My class went to the forest. We learned there are many trees. We have to be nice to Mom Nature.

Brady: Our class hiked up to the Lamar Haines area during October. I liked the cabins best. I liked second best the watering hole.

Marquis: Our class went hiking on the Peaks. I learned the history and we hiked. We played a game. It was fun.

Hailey: Our class went hiking on the Peaks. I like that she took us to the cabin and she told us about the pictures on the house that was made out of wood.

Raven: Our class went hiking on the Peaks. I liked the hiking best.

Dana: Our class hiked up the Lamar Haines area. Our class got a tour oft Lamar Haines. We got to hear a story.

Dakota: Our class hiked up to the Lamar Haines area. The best ever at Lamar Haines was when we saw the writing on the mountain.

Trace: During October our class went up the mountain. I learned about the gold. I liked the trip.
